What kind of wire would be best for hardwiring 10 of these lights in a series?

10 ea. 150 watt lamps will draw about 15 amps of current. #12 copper wire can handle up to 20 amps. If you want to make sure you are safe you could use 2/10 romex wire with a ground. That would give you some headroom.
