What color shirts go with these pants?

I like the idea of a nice medium shade of grey v-neck. White may also go well, but could also get too overwhelmingly light. Maybe an unbuttoned, button-up over shirt in a solid color or an unbuttoned flannel to go over that. I see a white top getting a little too overwhelmingly bright with pants that shade.
