Is there a way to save the pictures on a memory card if you have to initialize it?

I have a fujufilm finepix a600 camera and I've been using it with the memory card for a few years now. I have pictures on the memory card, but now I'm getting an error message that says "CARD NO INITIALIZED". I read online that you can format it, but I don't want to lose the pictures on there. Is there any way I can fix this problem without losing the pictures?
