The Sims 3 doesnt work on my PC?

Well my laptop just broke and i cant afford to fix it at the moment so i need to play sims 3 on the family computer...so i installed sims 3 on to it but i came up say in 'The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.' how do i get it to work??
